Alliant - Alliant, or Alliant GWAC, is a type of Governmentwide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) designed to provide worldwide information technology solutions to federal agencies.

Attribution - Generally the practice of identifying sources of cyber attacks or malware deployment.

BAA - Broad Agency Announcement, a technique for United States government agencies to contract for basic and applied research and development.

Barr, Aaron - CEO of HBGary Federal, former employee of Northrop Grumman. See the main entry here.

Burke, Karen - Director of Marketing and Communications, HBGary, Inc. Her e-mail signature suggests that she manages @HBGaryPR.

CAGE - A CAGE, or Commercial and Government Entity Code, is used to uniquely identify suppliers to various government or defense agencies.

Copeland, Charles -

CO - Unclear. Probably "Contracting Officer"

COTR - Contracting Officer's Technical Representative, a federal government position intended to ensure that government-contractor business relationships are "mutually beneficial" and provide exactly those products/services the government needs. More here.

Cyber - Short for "cyberspace."

Cyber Genome - A project to develop the capabilities necessary to trace digital artifacts (e.g. documents, malware) to their origins. Full entry here.

Digital DNA - An HBGary technology for malware detection.

DHS - Department of Homeland Security (USA)

DOE - Department of Energy (USA)

DOT - Department of Transport (USA)

DS&T - Directorate of Science and Technology, the CIA's technology department. More here.

ES - Electronic Systems, i.e. Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems

Green Eggs - Unclear. A term designating a proposal for a subcontract between HBGF and NG-X; might have been a formality or part of a project bid with NGX. See an example here. Additional references to "UNO Green Eggs MS13" in the attachments here.

IARPA ROSE - Unclear. Something under Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity. See this instance.

IRAD - Internal Research and Development

IS - Information Systems, i.e. Northrop Grumman Information Systems. See NGIS.

Leavy-Hoglund, Penny - President of HBGary, HBGF's parent company, and Greg Hoglund's wife.

Masterson, Brian - NG-X employee. Apparently Vera and Barr's main contact at NG-X.

NDA - Non-disclosure agreement

NGC - Northrop Grumman Corporation

NGES - Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems. NG's Electronic Systems sector is a leading designer, developer, and manufacturer of a wide variety of advanced defense electronics and systems. The division has 120 locations worldwide, including 72 international offices, and approximately 24,000 employees. Accounting for 20% of company sales in 2005, it is the single largest business unit in NG.

NGIS - Northrop Grumman Information Systems

NGX - Northrop Grumman Xetron, part of Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems Land Forces Division. Additional details here.

NOIC - Navy Information Operations Command/Center.

OGA - Other Government Agency, often used to refer to the CIA.

P230-F01 - Supplier Profile Questionnaire, an internal Northrop Grumman form. Profiles entities acting as suppliers to NG. Possibly used for tax purposes.

P726-F01 - Candidate Supplier Business Case Checklist, an internal NG form.

NWOC - Network Warfare Operations Capabilities

Riesen, Tim - COO and Senior Vice President of Archimedes Global.

RPF - Request for Proposal, a formal document that a vendor submits to bid on a project. Contains information like vendor qualifications. Is intended to ensure neutrality in project awards.

SAD - Special Activities Division, a CIA division which participates in covert political action, paramilitary special operations and cyberwar. Read more here.

SCIF - Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility

SF-86 - Questionnaire for National Security Positions, a US government form that requests extensive background information from an individual applying for a national security position. See the form here.

Slapnik, Bob - Vice President Sales and Business Development at HBGary.

SOW - Statement of Work, a document stating and defining work activities, services and goods to be provided over the course of a project specified by a client. Typically includes a project timeline and pricing information.

TASC - An intelligence, defense, homeland security contractor headquartered in Chantilly, VA. See its main entry here.

Trynor, Mark - Often referenced in the HBGary e-mail dump simply as "Mark." Described as "forensic expert."

TS - Top Secret

Vera, Ted - COO of HBGary Federal, former Northrop Grumman employee. More here as needed.

Xetron - Typically refers to Northrop Grumman-Xetron. See NGX. Also sometimes refers to the company of the same name, which was acquired by Northrop Grumman in 1996. More here.
